Common Questions

Let's unpack some of the most frequently asked questions about our organization, programs, and initiatives.

What is Education for Peace?

It is a comprehensive approach to education that aims to foster understanding, tolerance, and harmony among individuals and communities. It involves teaching students the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to prevent violence, resolve conflicts peacefully, and contribute to the building of a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world.

This concept goes beyond traditional academic learning to focus on emotional, social, and ethical development. The goal of education for peace is to cultivate respect for human rights, promote social cohesion, and empower individuals to play an active role in promoting peace in their communities and beyond.

What is Learning Poverty?

It is  a condition where children, particularly by the age of 10, are unable to read and understand a simple text or perform basic math, even though they have been in school for several years. It is a term used to highlight the significant global challenge of educational inequality, where millions of children are enrolled in school but do not acquire the foundational skills needed for lifelong learning and development.

The concept of learning poverty goes beyond the lack of access to education. It focuses on the quality of education that children receive and whether it equips them with the necessary skills to succeed in life. Despite being in school, many children are not learning effectively due to factors such as poor-quality teaching, inadequate educational resources, or socio-economic barriers.

What is Experiential Learning?

Experiential learning is a hands-on approach to education where learners actively engage in the learning process by doing, reflecting, and applying what they have learned to real-world situations. Unlike traditional learning, which often relies heavily on lectures and theoretical instruction, experiential learning emphasizes direct experience as the central aspect of gaining knowledge and skills.
